What is the Process?
The process is at the core of the Business Process Management (BPM)
movement. The PROCESS is a set of tasks, both manual and automated,
that together perform an activity. The process may correspond to a
primary or secondary activity. A primary activity is revenue
generating, while a secondary activity supports one or more primary
activities. In an organization, a process tends to cross departmental
boundaries, and in certain cases, the boundary of the organization
itself. Becoming a PROCESS-oriented company is the right way to
eliminate the silos of information within the organization.
When
we refer to the Process
we usually refer to its digitized form. The digitized process is the
process as described by a process language. A process language is
intent to describe the process by its inputs, outputs,
activities and behavior. The objective of the digitized process is to
be able to execute on a Business Process Execution Engine.
What is the Process-Oriented-Organization?
A
PROCESS-oriented organization is an organization in which all
activities are performed within the context of digital processes.
Why is being PROCESS-oriented important to you?
Imagine
if any process within your organization was known and properly
documented. Imagine if you could send a new hire to the PROCESS school.
From learning, to research, to developing your products and services,
from Human Resources, to ordering commodities. Imagine not having to
call two different people to get the latest changes on how something is
done in your organization. Seen this way, what the process is, and why
it is so important, becomes immediate. Bottom line, you should be
PROCESS-oriented because it is the only way to afford the perpetual state of change.
Why do customers require assistance to deploy become Business Process oriented?
Business process management (BPM) is multidisciplinary in nature and it requires a combined knowledge of both business and technology.
