Filipe Pinto interviewed by a Brazil'sl ABPMP founding member |
M2Msys Chief Architect was interviewed by Sérgio Mylius da Silva da Mylius & Marodin - Gestão de Projetos e Processos, a founding member of the Association BPM Professionals (ABPMP) Brazil. The interview discussed the future of BPM in Brazil (click previous link to listen to the entire MP3 interview). Accordingly to Mr. Pinto, BPM’s future in Brazil can follow a similar path to TV Globo’s that is today a Brazilian global media giant. Mr. Pinto's assessment is supported by the following premises:
- Brazil didn't invent the TV but made millions from high quality and low cost content. Today, Globo’s productions are watched in the largest emerging economies, including China.
- Brazil's multi ethnic population and innate creativeness (they are number one in the advertising industry) are wonderful preconditions for highly efficient processes, especially in emerging economies.
- As BPM software vendors lower their prices, the entry barriers in emerging economies will come down, and BPM will have a viral rate of adoption in emerging economies.
- Processes design in US and European have historical been difficult to implement in emerging economies. Even though cost has a large role on that situation, the facto to the matter is that the economies and law are significantly different making it difficult for US process experts to effectively model them. Brazilian process experts will prove a lot more efficient and effective.
Mr. Pinto suggested that in order for this plan to be successful the Brazilian BPM community will have to:
- Study very closely TV Globo’s success story and emulate it.
- Open its doors to the advertising gurus. They are uniquely positioned to determine what customers want, and this is the success of a BPM implementation. This collaboration will give an unbeatable edge to Brazil’s BPM.
- Organize their Diaspora as did the Indians for the past 20 years. Brazil has a young population that can be the future BPM modelers of the world.
Accordingly to Mr. Pinto, the role of the US and European companies is to continue to innovate and evolve BPM to the next level which event-driven processes. He added that BEA’s last BPM report is a clear indication that M2MSys strategy was right
