What is a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN)? |
|
A wireless sensor network (WSN) is a wireless network of autonomous devices using sensors to cooperatively monitor physical or environmental conditions. To be able to operate without wires, each device is equipped with a radio transceiver or other wireless communications device, a microcontroller, and (VERY IMPORTANT) an energy source. The devices are usually called RTU or Remote Transmitter Unit. In certain conditions, these devices can also be used as actuators and may have considerable intelligence.
