The process is at the core of the Business Process Management (BPM)
movement. The PROCESS is a set of tasks, both manual and automated,
that together perform an activity. The process may correspond to a
primary or secondary activity. A primary activity is revenue
generating, while a secondary activity supports one or more primary
activities. In an organization, a process tends to cross departmental
boundaries, and in certain cases, the boundary of the organization
itself. Becoming a PROCESS-oriented company is the right way to
eliminate the silos of information within the organization.
When we refer to the Process
we usually refer to its digitized form. The digitized process is the process as described by a process language. A process language is intent to describe the process by its inputs, outputs,
activities and behavior. The objective of the digitized process is to be able to execute on a Business Process Execution Engine.
